Brixworth Junior Cricket – Fridays at the Heart of the Village
BCC is proud to have a thriving and welcoming junior cricket section, running every Friday evening at our main ground, just inside the village. Our junior programme is all about having fun, making friends, and learning the game in a supportive but competitive environment.
We offer cricket for boys from Reception through to Year 10, with age-group squads at U7, U9, U11 hardball, U13 hardball and U15 hardball. For Girls we have U7, U9 and U11 softball and U12 and U14 hardball. (Thursday nights 6-7.30). Across the section, numbers are capped at 180 players to ensure every child receives quality coaching, appropriate challenge, and plenty of opportunity to develop and enjoy the game.
Boys and girls train separately to maximise participation and retention, with girls‑only groups improving confidence, enjoyment and long‑term engagement.
Friday nights at BCC are about more than just cricket. They are a real social highlight of the week, with the club bar open from 5.30pm, a BBQ and ice cream stall during the warmer months, and a visiting fish and chips van every few weeks. Parents, carers, siblings and relatives are all very welcome to stay, chat and soak up the atmosphere while the children play. Please note that, due to licensing laws, only alcohol purchased on site may be consumed – funds raised on Fridays help us keep junior membership fees at a reasonable level for everyone.
Junior membership opens in January each year. New members are welcomed from February, once existing members have re-registered. Registration and payment links for new joiners will be posted here in February.
We are always keen to hear from parents who may be able to help coach or support a group. Volunteers are vital to the success of our junior section, and those willing to commit can jump the queue for places (please note – commitments are taken seriously!).
